Mission, Beliefs and Vision

Mission:
The mission of Aberdeen Primary School is to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to grow ALL students everyday.

Pledge:
Today and everyday, I promise to be respectful, responsible, safe and smart.

School Day:
School begins promptly at 7:30 AM and ends at 2:30 PM. If your child is a car rider, please do not drop them off before 7:00 AM. Breakfast will be served until 7:20 AM. If your child arrives after 7:30 AM, it is imperative that you escort your child into the office and sign him or her in.

Dropping off in the mornings:
Please pull into the circle up to the curb as far as possible in a single file line behind the car in front of you. Students will exit vehicles from the side nearest the building and should exit as quickly and safely as possible.

Picking up in the afternoons:
Car riders are dismissed at 2:30 PM. Please do not pick your child up from school between the hours of 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM as there is still a great deal of learning going on in classrooms. Please encourage your children to look for you at dismissal to increase our flow of traffic. Please remain in your vehicle when picking up your child. If you need to change your child's mode of transportation of if someone different is going to pick your child up, please send a note to the teacher or call the school.

School Fees:
Fees are set for students at the beginning of the school year by the Moore County Board of Education. This year, the fee is $10.00. Since needed supplies are purchased with fee money, it is most helpful if they are paid at the beginning of the school year.

Attendance:
The attendance policy of Moore County Schools has two major components. One, that the accumulation of thirty days may result in the retention of the students in the same grade. Secondly, the absences are coded as excused or unexcused. Excused absences are for illness, injury and the like, when we are informed by a parent or guardian. Excused absences become unexcused if no contact is made by the parent or guardian. Physician notes may be requested to verify excused absences. When a student accumulates three unexcused absences a letter is sent to the parent per school attendance law. At six unexcused absences, another letter is sent to the parents. At ten, the final attendance law violation letter is sent with a notification that a court date may be pending. Parent contact is attempted during all of these steps to determine alternative means to improve attendance of the student. The importance of the contact either in writing or by phone to the classroom teacher cannot be stressed enough.
